"Blood and Motion Sickness"

Films: Gamera Vs. Gyaos (1967)

Alias: None

Type: Ancient

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: 88 meters and 78 metric tons.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: So Godzilla has a giant three-headed golden space dragon as a one true nemesis. Who does Gamera have? A big reptilian vampire bat. Sure, why not?

History: Found in a cavern, Gyaos had been waiting to sink her fangs into some nice tasty human blood. Wasting no time eating the locals, the beast failed to notice that Gamera wasn't too thrilled with her homicidal tendencies. The two would repeatedly duke it out, but the fights kept ending prematurely due to Gyaos' hatred of the sun.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After a frankly zany scheme involving feeding Gyaos blood on a spinning platform until sunrise fails (it was called Operation: Merry Go-Round, for Christ's sake), Gamera decides to just drag the bat beast into a volcano to burn up and die. Ouch.

Powers/Abilities: Gyaos can emit an extremely precise "cutter beam" that slices through flesh like a hot knife through butter. She can also emit from her body a strange gas that deflects sunlight and fire.

Weakness: The sun is particularly annoying to Gyaos.

Scariness Factor: 4-Gyaos is no pushover when it comes to threatening humans. If you thought normal bloodsuckers were bad, imagine one kaiju-sized. Her design is also rather grim compared to other Gamera foes.

Trivia: -Some believe Gyaos' beam is concentrated sound. Indeed, the idea of sound cutting material isn't lost among scientists, as some guys in Michigan University have been proving with their little device emitting sound 10,000 times the amount a human can safely hear.

-Speaking of sound, Gyaos was reportedly named after the high-pitched sound she made.
